A few months ago, I ran into a friend. And, I noticed that she had lost a significant amount of weight, and that her arthritis wasn't bothering her anymore. And I said to her, what is your secret? She said Steve Bowman. I said who is Steve Bowman? She said he is my health coach. He has all the right credentials, all the degrees and he helps you get your life on the right track. Whether it is to lose weight, to exercise again and learn about your disease. Mine is Diabetes. He gave me a good education, actually things I never knew about being a diabetic. He worked with me over the last three months through 1:1 sessions. We accomplished alot, he had me watch many videos, gave me written information, and we had 1 hour a week 1 on 1 sessions. He is a wonderful teacher and a great guy. If you need somebody to help you set goals, if you have none, like I had none in my life. My name is Greg Moses. Leaving this message to help someone know how beneficial the Live & Lead program was for me. I came down two belt sizes, I lost 16 pounds; but more importantly I feel better and am on a course that is probably going to bring off more pounds. My motivation for that was health. I had two mini strokes. I was pre-diabetic and I no longer have to take my insulin because of the plant-based diet. I focus on the lifestyle change now. There is a group of us that went through the program together and that was a big help because we were able to support one another. Steve also had the circle app where we could share recipes and motivate and support each other and share new options, which was really helpful for me. Steve shares a lot of what he knows but the program is structured but open too. He leans in to where you most need help and he is a wealth of knowledge. A lot of times no matter which direction we go, you tap into that reservoir of knowledge. It is not just necessarily health, there are also some nuggets and life lessons that Steve shares as well. If you are thinking about the program, let me urge you. I think you will be pleased that you did it at the end of it. He is a great person, and it is a really supportive program that is informative and not so structured that you feel restricted. He helps you understand the importance of making better choices and the benefits of those choices. With that information, at least for me it helped me understand day to day, in the moment while I was making the choice of what to eat. Understanding what my why was and it kept me focused; that and the fact that we met regularly. If you are thinking about it, I think it is a great program and I think that you will feel that way as well. Take advantage of it!

I agreed to give Steve 8 weeks to make me a believer. He did it in three. Live and Lead's approach of healthy living and leadership focused on plant based eating and personalized coaching has accomplished what no other plans have been able to do - get me to stick with the program for more than a couple of months. I attribute that accomplishment to my group coaching sessions with Steve. I have struggled with my weight my entire life, but I had, at least, always been healthy. Two kids, family health issues, a divorce, early menopause, and stress changed all of that. I gained 60 lbs. over a period of 5 years, and I was no longer healthy. My cholesterol, blood pressure, risk of cardiovascular disease as well as type 2 diabetes all increased significantly. I tried everything including diet programs that counted calories and/or points, gym memberships, food journaling, fasting, low carb diets, and even juice cleanses - but nothing worked long term for me, mainly because I would not stick with any of them for any length of time. The minute I lost focus and gave up, I would gain the weight back (faster and with way less effort than it took me to lose it.). I knew I needed to do something different but was not sure what to do. I knew to succeed, I not only needed to change my eating habits, but also needed to change the way I felt about food and my behavior of stress eating, but not sure how to do it. I needed a complete mind and body overhaul but did not know where to begin. God answered my prayers by leading me to Live & Lead. During our initial consultation with Steve, he talked about his, and his family's own experience with changing to a plant-based diet. I never in a million years would have thought eating dairy, chicken breast and lean meats could be doing me more harm than good. Everything I had read and learned up until this point was that I should focus on animal-based protein. And could I really give up meat and dairy? I mean, my favorite all time meal is a burger, fries, and a milkshake. I had always liked eating fruits and veggies, so that was not a problem, but I was afraid they would not fill me up or give me enough energy to make it through the day. During our first session we talked about values, goals, and being the person, I wanted to become. I wanted to be healthy and make sure I am doing everything in my power to be around for my kids for as long as possible. Together, we decided that I would stop focusing on lowering the number on my scale, and instead, focus on getting healthier, measured not by pounds lost, but by lowered vital scores and reducing my risks of chronic illnesses. Giving up meat and dairy would be the fastest way to hit that goal. So, I agreed to try a plant-based diet for 8 weeks and signed up for weekly coaching sessions. Right from our initial consultation, I could tell that Steve was authentic, and so very genuine in his approach to help me get healthier. He listens to understand our individual challenges, goals, and gets to know your personality to figure out how best to help you reach your goals. After just 3 weeks I could not believe how much better I felt and was shocked that I was not missing meat or dairy (not even my little bowl of ice cream each night with the kids.) And I was never hungry or felt like I was starving or depriving myself. During one of our sessions, Steve introduced us to several types of lentils, beans, and rice along with how to cook and spice them up. I cannot believe how much I like beans and rice! But what was most amazing, was the benefits I was getting from the weekly sessions with Steve. Each week, I learn something new that gets me excited to try throughout the week until our next session. We have made incredible breakthroughs in identifying my emotional triggers to eating, as well as recognizing and reversing self-sabotaging behaviors. He holds us accountable in a positive way by focusing on our wins from the past week, setting our priorities for the next week, and reminding us that everyone has slips and surges and we should always focus on progress, not perfection. After 8 weeks of eating plant based, I was able to lower my cholesterol from 244 to 202. After 12 weeks I had lost 15 lbs. without even focusing on weight loss. I am making progress every day and cannot wait to come back and share my continued progress in a future update.

Working with Steve has literally changed my life. He took the time to understand my health issues and developed a plan to help me solve them. He has been along this journey with me by being my nutritionist, personal trainer, and sometimes even therapist! We’ve been working for 3+ months. We are doing our health improvement journey as a family group. I was skeptical at first, not wanting to give up a few of my favorite things, food wise but I have noticed a tremendous difference in my arthritis, my sleep pattern and an overall state of feeling better.  Steve has been such a great coach and inspiration, which is why we are still motivated and wanting to continue working with him and on our journey. Steve has taken the time individually by making sure we are all on the same page and he always notices when one of us needs a bit more than the others. He takes his time with us and allows us to go at our own pace. One tool Steve has helped me with is that we are choosing our own path. We can choose to be strict in his leading or we can choose to go our own way occasionally; which having that choice is very important to me.

I began my journey to plant based eating about two 1/2 years ago. Initially, I was very skeptical. I had eaten a certain way for 60+ years and during that time I tried many different diets. Often I would lose weight and then gain it back. I also made some changes, I loved a really good steak, but I cut back my red meat consumption to once or twice a month. I increased my fruits and vegetables. After I met Steve, I utilized the health recommendations, listened to the documentaries he recommended, I took a really hard look at my eating and exercise habits. Part of me wanted a “miracle cure” for all that ails me. And as I said, I was skeptical. I was not on cholesterol or blood pressure medicine (family history), and didn’t want to have to start them. So I decided to take the next step. In the beginning, it was hard for me. I had to look at different foods and protein sources. I have learned to embrace beans. I searched for different recipes. My daughter gave us the Thug Cookbook , which has some fairly graphic language, but really good recipes. This has helped with meal planning. There are some foods I don’t like and I have texture issues with some foods. The biggest health improvement I have noticed is my increased energy level. As a result of the changes I made I now accomplish more throughout the day. Additionally, I have lost a little weight and both my blood pressure and cholesterol are in the healthy ranges. Through his seminars, in person and virtual, Steve has encouraged me and my husband us to keep going on the journey to a healthy body and mind. Many times, the first step is the hardest. I’m really glad I took that first step, and hope that you have the confidence to take the first step to improve your health.

Give Steve a chance, give him a minute or a moment or whatever it takes. Listen to what he has to say because the more knowledge you gain about this way of eating could save your life! And it also has a lot to do with mental capacity because of healthy eating you are thinking better and thinking clearer. But, give Steve the opportunity to gently talk you back into another thought and another idea of how to eat properly.

In the Fall of 2019, Steve Bowman introduced me to a new way of healthy eating and living. Following only one of his suggestions, I quickly lost 8 pounds and felt great, all from eating oatmeal for breakfast! Steve almost had me hooked on what he offered. In January 2020, my husband joined me on a 5-week journey, led by Steve and his great team, to further explore this healthy lifestyle. At the end of the journey, we had lost more pounds, lowered our cholesterol and triglycerides, and were both convinced this lifestyle is the way we want to live. The presentations, demonstrations, and discussions showed us how to achieve better physical and mental health. I can confidently say that what we learned allowed us to get through the remainder of 2020 and the first half of 2021 physically stronger and healthier. Steve's enthusiasm and commitment to healthy living—not just for him, but for everyone he comes in contact with— is inspiring and contagious. You may think you cannot give up meat, poultry, fish, dairy, and oils, but you can and will be surprised how wonderful, delicious, and satisfying plant-based meals are. We don't count calories and eat what we want. I especially love a meal with potatoes and always look forward to seeing my weight decrease the next day! If you aren't happy with how you feel or are tired of a life taking pills to control medical problems, give Steve and his program a try. He will do his best to help you become the best healthy version of yourself!

I was blessed to have met Steve my freshmen year of college. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that ever since our first interaction my life has been changed for the better. Not only does he has the extensive insight of how chronic health conditions and diseases work, but he has the knowledge about the root cause of them. Which can help you to manage them, reverse them and even prevent them from happening in the first place. Steve has taught me that instead of focusing on your symptoms, you need to focus on what is causing them. That is such a crucial step in living your best life and being your healthiest self. Upon entering college I was spending more time in the bathroom than not. I was bloated and in pain and experiencing some pretty embarrassing symptoms that I couldn't identify on my own. I went to a physician who did extensive diagnostic testing on me and I was prescribed some medication to alleviate my symptoms; and, while they did alleviate my symptoms it didn't help the symptoms from coming in the first place. Upon conferring with Steve and following his advice I not only immediately felt better but three years later I am completely symptom free and no longer take any medications. My advice to you is to work with Steve. He has this knowledge and this unmatched desire to help people and he empowers you to help yourself and to help those around you. His advice is reasonable, reliable, and I can honestly say that it works and I have seen it first hand not only with myself but with others as well. If you have the opportunity to work with Steve please do so.

Steve has allowed me to realize many of the amazing benefits that eating a plant-based diet can have. Before taking his class, I thought I was doomed to get these terrible chronic diseases that my parents and grandparents suffered from, but he opened my eyes to the reality that through my lifestyle choices, especially my diet, I can take control of my health and reduce my likelihood of developing them. I never realized what a huge role diet played in disease management and am so glad I was able to learn more about it. Because of his guidance and encouragement, I am more motivated than ever to live my healthiest life and fuel my body with the nutrients it needs through eating plant based.
