Hi everyone, my name is Laney, and I am a sophomore behavioral health major at the University of Delaware. I met Steve at the beginning of my freshman year at UD in our school gym. After a 15-minute conversation with him my entire life changed. At the time I had been pretty interested in changing my eating habits and he challenged my friend and I to go plant based for three weeks. Initially I agreed strictly because I wanted to see if I could do it and if I had it in me and I did. Three things happened. The first was I lost about 15 pounds. Second, my skin cleared up, which was great. Third, and most importantly, I had so much more energy and motivation. I decided to improve my physical health too and I got really into lifting weights. With lifting I lost a ton of body fat and I gained a bunch of muscle. I became more confident and happier than I had ever been in my entire life. I am now at peace with where I am at. I am always getting better, and I am always improving. Being healthy has stopped being a chore, it is now a daily part of my life. I do not think I would be who I am today if it were not for Steve. Whoever you are, believe me and trust me when I say if you want to change your life you have that power within you. You are capable of more than you know. You just have to find out how you want to unlock it within yourself.”
Hi, my name is Peyton. Steve was my professor freshman year of college. He taught personal health management. I am now a junior but to this day and having Steve as my professor has forever impacted my life. Steve helped open my eyes to not only the importance of healthy living but also the truth behind what healthy living really is and what it means. There is so much in the news and on websites telling you to consume dairy and that dairy is good to build strong bones, but Steve helped me to realize that that is not the truth. Though that he inspired and motivated me to decrease dairy throughout my diet and I have been doing that for about two years now. I used to struggle with acne and now my skin is so much clearer, and I feel better, and I feel healthier. I am less bloated all the time and I just feel great overall. With, my message to anyone who is wanting to start their journey is to realize it is not going to happen overnight. I wish it would, but, becoming healthier is a journey. So, step one is recognizing that you want to change. No one can change for you and no one can make you change. It must come from that internal motivation. I applaud you for taking step one and coming to the Live & Lead website because it is not the result that matters, it is the journey. Hello everybody, my name is Jim. I am 56 years old, and I have been working with Steve on a plant-based diet for about two and a half years. This program has really been a success for me. I have lost 60 pounds over all and the weight seemed to come off quickly. My first 30 pounds, I lost in four, five, six months. I lost another 30 pounds a few months after that and then I have been maintaining my current weight for about 2 1/2 years. For me it has worked fantastic, like clockwork. Working with Steve has been great. Steve presents things, not only talks about what you should be eating but he also talks about why, and what are the nutrients behind it, a lot of factors like that. His support has really kept me going. The benefits I have had from this have been positive. I used to take medicine for joint pain, I do not take that anymore. My overall energy level has increased, and I just feel happier. So, they call this a plant-based diet, but it is not a diet at all. It is a way of eating. This is my diet, and it is how I eat every day. A lot of diets people starve themselves to lose weight through reduction of calories. I do not do that. I eat as much food as I want to; I am never hungry. I can do that because it is healthy food. It gives me energy and it gives me all the vitamins and nutrients you would need for the day. Again, I have never been hungry on this diet. I want to congratulate everyone for taking the first step and overall improving your health. I hope this works for you and I think it will. Steve is great to work with and a super guy. I strongly encourage everyone to go far with this program.
Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth O’Connor, and I am lucky enough to work as Steve Bowman’s assistant in his health class at the University of Delaware. When I first met Steve, he had asked me if I had any improvements I wanted to make in my health. I said I eat well, and I exercise a lot, but I have a terrible time sleeping and so I would like to improve that. Steve gave me some great suggestions. In terms of diet, he gave me some things to change and some things to eliminate. When he first told me that cutting out chicken and dairy would be helpful for me. I laughed at that, I thought I could not live without chicken Caesar salads. Now I am happy to report that not only do I live without them, but I have found some good replacements and I am sleeping so much better. So, Steve has helped me with some of my goals, sleeping being the first one. So, thank you, Steve!
